Hodgson is better than Henrique. If he only gets a bridge deal, Darcy is gonna have to pay when he starts getting 30 goal, 70 point seasons..maybe the Hodgson camp starts looking for 6-6.5 per after a couple successful seasons |

They are two different players they play different styles I wouldnt say CoHo is better. Henrique had a bad year ! His second year and first lockout experience. If he doesnt have a solid season this year I would start to have questions about him.If Henrique continues to develope the way he should he has captain written on him and has the leadership skills that I am not sure CoHo with ever have. CoHo should get a similar deal to Henrique imo |

These young players need to earn a big dollar contract, to date, they haven't! Regardless of what other GM's have given out, paying some young player excessive amounts of money just because someone else did is bad management. |

Im not so sure about that. Henrique is more accomplished at this point. |

"Here's my rationale for why Hodgson does have leverage in his negotiation with the Sabres."
Leverage? Why not mention holding out? |

The leverage he has is he's negotiating with Buffalo. Every athlete football or hockey automatically has serious leverage because no one wants to play here and the teams(especially the Sabres) can ill afford anymore PR nightmares. |

Not true. Plus:
Hodgson can ill afford any more PR nightmares. |

I see Hodgson having the upper hand here. He's got potential which is all you need in Buffalo. He's their #1 center and on team that hasn't had a real #1 Center since july 1st you know when. |

His only leverage is holding out. He didn't even have arbitration rights. |

Horrible attempt at analogy aside, you do realize it was an intentional misspelling of the name, right? |

...That's what i was thinking too. Do you really want to be labeled a pre-madonna THIS early in your career?
Suck it up, take a bridge and prove that you're worth a big contract and get it.
I mean, I understand that his agent wants tons of money now, but sometimes, an agent has to look at the big picture when it comes to the players career.
...And of course, we're so thin at center that Darcy doesn't have an option to fill that #1 spot unless we want A LOT of pain this season.

Yeah, he has already burned through one organization/coach/GM. If you go through a 2nd before you are 24 it becomes a trend. Where does that take your career?
Watching Hodgson's defense is painful. I can live with any of Ennis, Grigorenko, Foligno, Porter, McCormick, Larsson, Steckel and Connolly (kidding) at center early in the season. Darcy already warned me to prepare to suffer. |

I'd be ok if Hodgson signed the same 6yr, 24mil deal that Henrique got.... I'd actually like tht deal a lot |

Just ok? That would be a great contract for the team (and I believe in a bridge contract for Hodgson). |
